The councilors of mobility of Barcelona and Vitoria, cities in which the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona also develops their mobility plans, exposed yesterday in the Kiosko Alfonso that, for years, have a political and citizen pact on this matter as the one that Intends to reach the Concello Coruñés. For Mercedes Vidal, from Barcelona, the right to mobility "is one of the pillars of the welfare state, although it is not recognized" and stressed that despite the fact that in the city, private car travel is only 23%, most of public space is reserved for this means of transport, which she described as "inequity". Vidal commented that the pedestrianization of the neighborhood of Gracia generated a great conflict, but that two years later "nobody understands that the reality could be another".

Juan Carlos Escudero, from Vitoria, who intervened by videoconference, highlighted that the political pact allowed to triple the price of parking in the center despite the opposition of 22 associations of neighbors. "It is necessary to reach the consensus to take unpopular measures", warned the councilor, who detailed that in Vitoria annual meetings of the pact for the mobility are realized to evaluate its application, whereas Mercedes Vidal added that in Barcelona to these annual sessions is added the Activity of sectoral working groups.

The head of this area in the Concello de Pontevedra, César Mosquera, explained that the extensive pedestrianization in his city reduced carbon dioxide emissions by half a ton per capita per year and warned that opposition to these measures is "very noisy" .
