The most valuable element of the city is the soil. For this reason, we can not continue dedicating it to cars, as up until now, when up to 70% of the space in cities is dedicated to them.

With such strong ideas as this, Salvador Rueda, director of the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona, began his intervention. He was in charge of opening the series of sessions dedicated to mobility and urban renewal on the second day of the Conama Local València 2017. The session was broadcast in streaming and the video of the intervention is available on the YouTube channel of Las Naves Innovation Center, the València space where we are celebrating the Local Conama.

Rueda is a leading figure in the thinking of urban spaces and is known worldwide for the creation of superblocks, a concept that has proven its worth in Barcelona and is being exported to cities around the world. Traffic is allowed through main streets and most of the public space is released for citizens and for uses other than transportation and private vehicles. The city sprouts in this way, it recovers space, its dimension, and its human scale.
