Central superblock in Vitoria-Gasteiz

Public space of the Central superblock of Vitoria-Gasteiz

Since the drafting of the Plan of mobility and public space in Vitoria-Gasteiz, BCNecologia has been responsible for the development of this study, in order to implement a Central superblock as a pilot project of the plan.

The study suggests three phases of implementation. The first provides for the reorganization of the network of mobility. This means the installation of control systems of access, changes of direction, and the regulation of parking within the set scope. The second phase envisages the empowerment of public space, giving priority to those streets with track bike and/or urban paths. Finally, the third phase contemplates broadly the construction of a logistics platform of goods CDU and the manning of residents off road parking.

The study is based on analysis of mobility and accessibility of the public space. This is taken into account both microsimulations of traffic and its impact on the rest of the network, as well as improving the degree of habitability due to a series of proposals for management of public space is also analyzed.

The expectation that calls for the implementation of the urban transformation is linked to the overall actions performed, which will be made from this baseline study in PERI del Casco Medieval.
